move slow, fix things

Empire of AI by Karen Hao

This was a really well researched account and critique of all the shit Sam Altman and OpenAI have been up to for the last 10+ years. Hao has a great understanding of both the technical details and the big picture and communicates them clearly and in an entertaining way. I wasn't expecting to read this book so quickly.

I didn't care so much for the corporate soap opera, I understand why it's there but in terms of relevance it occupies a disproportionate amount of pages.

I would say this is pretty much essential reading if you're really interested in the topic and care about what goes on in Silicon Valley. If not, I think a good interview with Hao will probably drive her main ideas across (which are really good). This is a good one:

PS: the Spanish translation of this book was pretty terrible, clearly done by someone who doesn't understand the technical side of things. It just made it awkward to read.
