Embedded previews in Obsidian
2025-03-20
I’m not much of an Obsidian power user, I tend to get overwhelmed by complex setups, but when I find a plugin that solves a specific problem in an easy to remember way, that’s a winner for me.
Unfortunately there’s a lot of useful information in Twitter that keeps me coming back. I hate Twitter’s bookmark functionality (or lack thereof), particularly the fact that you cannot search your own stuff. I’ve been pasting tweet URLs into Obsidian, hoping that one day I will visit the links and extract the useful information, but that was never gonna happen. I wasn’t solving the search problem, which is the main reason why I use Obsidian.
Surely I’m not the only one with this problem. I did a quick search for Community Plugins and ding-ding-ding, there it was. Link Embed is my new best friend. You hit Cmd+P
, run Link Embed: Embed link
(a bit redundant if you ask me) and it converts whatever URL you have in your clipboard into an embedded preview, which contains the text of the tweet, immediately making it searchable.
A no brainer.
